Special call for applications from Early Career Access/WP practitioners / researchers
FACE is delighted to announce that ESCalate the Education Subject Centre has kindly agreed to sponsor a full fees paid place at this year's FACE conference for someone working in access or widening participation who is 'early' in their career. Sponsorship includes all conference fees, university accommodation and access to the social programme. Travel expenses are not included. A further two day-rate places are available at 25% discount for early career authors.
So if you have been working in the areas of access or widening participation for less than two years you are eligible to apply for this sponsored place at FACE 2010 hosted by Southampton Solent University 30th June to 2nd July.
Applicants should submit a title and abstract for a conference paper which will be reviewed by a special panel of the FACE executive. The successful author will be invited to attend the full conference free of charge, to give a full conference presentation and submit a full paper for publication in the conference publication.

Review of FACE 2009 by the researcher who won the 2009 Escalate sponsorship
Those of you that attended last years FACE annual conference may have had the chance to meet Charlotte Young a research colleague from Aimhigher LIFE and Bournemouth University. With sponsorship support from the Education Subject Centre-advancing learning and teaching in education (ESCalate) FACE offered a complimentary conference place including all accommodation to an early careers researcher or practitioner. Charlotte was the successful candidate and in her article she talks about her research and the impact that going to the conference has had on her work.

Bringing More to Members - Online Questionnaire
The FACE membership questionnaire is still online for those who haven't voted yet. (Get in some practice for May!) Give your opinions on whether . . .

This is a day long seminar hosted by the Forum for Access and Continuing Education (FACE) and the Educational Access Research Network (EARN).
This event will look at the actual evidence concerning the impact of cost on the attitudes of young people regarding progression to higher education. In the midst of the crucial review of Higher Education Finance and student support arrangements in England this event will focus on a number of pieces of recent research looking at the role of cost in progression. Delegates will also receive a summary document including information on the research presented at the event.
