An Update from Jamie Mackay

Colleagues, I bring you some exciting updates about this year's FACE Conference @ Southampton Solent University 30th June - 2nd July.

First, it is with great pleasure that I can confirm Sarah Howls, Head of Widening Participation at HEFCE, will be one of the Key Note Speakers at the Conference. She joins Pat Bacon, AoC President and Chief Executive at St Helens College and Bev Thomas Deputy Director, Widening Participation, Higher Education Directorate, DBIS. We are also looking forward to welcoming Jane Neuburger, President-Elect, National Association for Developmental Education (NADE), to speak at the Conference.

Second, the programme for the conference has been published on the FACE 2010 Conference website.

Third, I am pleased to announce that the Call for Papers deadline has been extended to Friday 28 May. If you submitted your paper before 23rd April, you should have already been contacted. If you have not submitted something, there is still just time!

Conference Roundtable Sessions

Got an opinion?

Wednesday Roundtable — Sustaining Aimhigher

Aimhigher funding promised only until July 2011, a new coalition government, economic uncertainty across Europe, jobs in outreach centres under threat, caps on student numbers making it more difficult to evaluate the impact of Aimhigher, cuts to university funding . . . . what happens next in widening participation?

Thursday Roundtable - International Policy Exchange

The conference title "which way now for widening participation?" is more than just a challenge for UK education and government, it is a question of global interest and significance. This roundtable will bring together an international panel to provide policy headlines and updates on widening participation from around the world. Following the short presentations from the panel, the session will be open for a full discussion.

Get involved.
