The Context

One of the interests of the FACE organisation is in the arena of research across its range of key areas. FACE recognizes the crucial role that research plays in Access and Continuing Education. It also recognizes the challenges that members often face in identifying the resources to deliver such research, especially when funding streams are often focused narrowly on particular themes or topics.

What role does FACE Play?

FACE currently supports research in a number of ways.

In 2007 and 2008 FACE was able to assist its members by financially supporting five pieces of research into Access and Continuing Education through its Research and Development Fund. In 2009 FACE will provide funding toward three further pieces of research by FACE members.

In addition, research is undertaken by FACE through the annual conference and the resulting published proceedings, and the FACE to FACE newsletter.

In the past FACE has also welcomed the opportunity to take part in the forum of international research through leading on the United Kingdom contribution to a project led by EURYDICE focusing on National Trends in the Bologna Process and the European Credit Transfer System.
