FACE Research
The FACE Research and Development Fund
FACE recognizes the crucial role that research plays in Access and Continuing Education. It also recognizes the challenges that members often face in identifying the resources to deliver such research, especially when funding streams are often focused narrowly on particular themes or topics.
In recent years FACE has been able to assist its members through an annual Research and Development Fund. This has supportted small pieces of research into Access and Continuing Education .

"Not in employment or training but in community education: Young people’s
transitions in South Wales."
Researcher: Heather Pudner and
Alyce Von Rothkirch.
Institution: Department of Adult and Continuing Education, University
of Swansea.
Nature of Research: This project emerges from work conducted with the
New Learning Network (NLN), a partnership supporting community education
in Neath Port Talbot in South Wales.
A sizeable number of young people aged between 16 and 24 are engaged
in various forms of community education within the project. While these
young people cannot accurately be described as NEETs, the question remains
why these young people are not in full-time education, training programmes
or in employment.
